Go Up Go Down

I finally found some time to try out my detector - there is a full run-down in the VLF techie section. The disc mode worked great - it picked up no nickels, dimes, or quarters. Problem is it didn't pick up anything else, but was there anything to find ? In metal mode the tune seemed to work. I did find an old broken tractor spring - when I say 'find' I mean I tripped over it. Ground balance seems to do something. So, it is advice I am looking for.
I decided to follow a very deep track (in compacted wet mud, it being England). I found that when the head ran through a trough where the sides were a few inches above the sides of the head, I got some false alarms. I think this is all due to ground balance ? I did play with it a bit and found a point where, in metal mode, there was very little change as I raised and lowered the head - but there was a detectable change. Could be a fault of mine in construction. I also found that wandering across the ploughed field was not too good either. On the reasonably even ground around the field I got very few false beeps. From time to time I tossed a screwdriver to the ground to make sure the detector was really working. In free-air tests, as per the mank manual, it works fine, a foot no problem. So guys, well chaps really to us, a few pointers, comments most welcome y'all. Detecting

No Air Test?

I know they don't mean much in the field but would give us some ideas. Cool

Yep, followed the Bandido manual as if I had bought one, Air test etc fine but not a lot of effect with the ground control (electronicly I have it right, may need to mod it).

There is a full descip and pics in the techie section - 9" Tx coil and 5" Rx (concentric). Null is almost zero so good sensitivity.
