I ordered a new Fisher F2 and it comes with the Fisher F-Point Pointer, I know it's not the top of the line pointer but has anybody have any experience with it? What kind of performance can I expect?  Detecting

Ive been using one the last 2 years. Takes a little getting used to, to be able to turn it on and off and adjust it with one hand. I like it except that it needs a trigger to turn it off and on. max setting it will pickup a dime at about 3/4 inch which is perfect for locating stuff in a pile of dirt. As long as you dont pry with it, it should last you a long time, mine has seen alot of use and no worse for wear. The garret is the best one out if your into spending whatever it cost (around $160? I dont know). But you need a pinpointer if your a serious  hunter.

I must be doing something wrong. The one that i received will not respond unless it is almost touching the find (about a 1/8 inch). I have adjusted it according to manual. maybe i should return it?
