Over the years, I have found a fair number of gold rings and, according to my records and my recollections, most have been found in the oceans of the world. The second most active place for them is alongside large, old trees in parks and recreation areas. Yes, it even outshines the beaches.

Make your vote in the poll and add comments as you feel appropriate. Enjoy the results. Perhaps this will help those who have yet to tally up a gold ring to add one to their finds pouch.

This is an interesting poll. I found my first gold ring today, in a field at my aunt and uncles. However, I wasn't able to get a picture of it, because it was one of theirs. I believe it was my aunts engagement ring. It was a nice surprise though, they thought it would have never been found.

Metal_Inspector, believe it or not I was thinking of you when I put this together. I was just going to describe where I find most of the rings I find when it occurred to me that a poll would be very informative. I look forward to seeing the results. Thanks. I know I can cross the beach off of my lists, since I live in the middle of the US continent. I have yet to search a school and playground. I did find, however, a silver ring in a swingset area with wood chips.

The poll is starting to gain momentum. Eventually, we will see a trend here, Metal_Inspector.

One thing about polls always troubles me. Suppose, for instance, that this poll determines that location XXX is the best place to find rings. Over the years, readers of this will focus their searches on location XXX and possibly ignore other equally lush areas that were simply missed on the original poll. Over time, will the poll influence where rings are found or will the initial indicators be the end all of where the best odds can be?

What I mean is, will the next generation of metal detectorists use the poll to aid them while still searching other places? I would hope so. As I jokingly said in another topic, "Ah, Grasshopper, you have much to learn."

Intresting poll ,,I voted park's BUT I know you can find more in the water ,,Depending on wear you hunt ,,3 guy's did a water hunt at Sauble beach here in Canada ,very popular spot and found 17 ring's within an hour ,Another fellow I hunt with said to me one day has he entered the water to leave me on the beach said for every 1 ring you find on the beach i will find 12 in the water ,,,,,

Outback, I have found that to be mostly true, about water finds. I came across an old, disused beach in Portsmouth, Virginia about 30 years ago. Went out with a dive buddy and together we were digging up jewelry and coins at the rate of 60 per hour average. Did this for 6 weeks before it started to pan out. The water was brackish and we used a hookah rather than scuba since we were in roughly 10 feet of water. The area is long gone now having been filled in with condos and a boat marina. It was good while it lasted though.

Someday, I'll find another sweet spot like that one.

So far ive found 7 gold rings six of these being from old car boot sale sites and the last being on a weekend wanderers rally in hampshire.Still love to see the flash of gold though.

For some reason I can not cast
my vote. The results are already
there on my screne Huh?

I find most of mine in tot lots.

The first 5 were not in tot lots.
I then thought that tot lots did
not have gold rings. But I was
wrong.

If it were not for my tot lot rings,
I would only have about one thrid
as many.

One day I found two gold rings and
a supper silver ring with stones,
pluss a gold plated silver ring, and
a gold pendant in a very small tot
lot. The whole park was as small as
a house lot.

You just never know.
