fisher 1260 x

my fisher 1260x has been put away for a long while.
The battery holders have vanished and new ones have been ordered.
It is my hope the machine still works, as I want to introduce my granddaughter to the hobby.
I had great fun in the past digging treasure, even if it was just a boy scout handkerchief tie...
or the like...
You know that you never know until you dig it, and get a prize whether it is a pull tab, aluminum bottle cap, or silver quarter.
I was pleased to find a schematic on this site, but it's function is quite confusing...
I hope I don't need it.
Back in the day, fisher 1260 was a great machine, but you did have to understand it's language for it to make any sense. Sure am hoping it comes back to life...

Good luck with your Fisher, I'm sure you'll have it buzzing in no time. Have fun with your granddaughter! I introduced my grandson to the hobby and he loves it...not as much as grandpa, but we have fun!

Hi Dustyr. I'm happy to hear you are about to get the old Fisher fired up and working again. I have great confidence that it will work just fine. It was really good news to hear the battery holders had "vanished" because leaving batteries in detectors for long periods of time, until they corrode and bust, is probably the biggest hazard when storing a detector. When I owned a metal detector shop here in town, Fisher detectors were my best sellers and they always lived up to their reputation as being fine metal detectors.

Hello dustyr . And Welcome to the Great Thunting.com Forum !!! Your Fisher 1260x is still a good machine by today's standards . I read it was the top seller in 1985 for $399. u.s. Dollars !! Looking forward to reading all your new posts .
