I am new to MDing and I purchased the detector mentioned in the title.  Here it is at their site

I have a long narrow screwdriver to use as a probe and the Fiskars digger.

What I am curious about is if anyone has any experience with this detector?  The instructions are almost worthless.  Is it a dig up all targets detector?  I have found two die-cast cars and a bunch of junk.  The good thing is I find something every time I go out.  No coin or precious metals yet.  I will keep digging every tone because who knows whats down there.

Thanks.

" Is it a dig up all targets detector?"  Basically YES ! most detectors are it's also the only way your going to find all of the good stuff but your also going to dig lots and lots of trash !  yeah I know not the answer u wanted no detector is going to go out and find a huge treasure or million dollar coins each time u go out , it will always include going thru piles and piles of junk first.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting !

Dig it all! Every time you think its a pull tab and you decide to pass it by...it could be that diamond ring!!!!

I am going with it.  I found my first coin the other night.  It was a 1979 D penny.  Nothing spectacular, but sure made me feel good.

Hello Buckskin . Welcome to the Forum !!! Looks like your machine is identical to a Famous Trails model MD-3006 . If so $44.95 is a excellent price .

Keep practicing , even get permission to go around old houses or parks and then you will be hooked on the hobby !! Let us know your progress .

Hello Buckskin,
Welcome to the thunting! As far as your HF Metal Detector goes, I have one of these and I used it before I became sick, and for me it worked well, You just have to get used to it. As a matter of fact I just went back out detecting
after a year of being sick. I cant remember where I posted it, but I did make a nice find after about an hour, which was a Large Bronzed Eagle, I have a picture on here somewhere.( I think its titled what I found In my new back yard or someto that effect. and I also found a very small gold ear ring back!
So these detectors do work, and the nine function is better than the six
function ( the six is basically for kids ) I dig every time I get a beep! sure I spend
alot of time digging! but I find alot of things! and all those pull tabs and steel junk items I dont throw them away I save them and can now toss them in bins to
take to the scrap metal dealer and sell them. I dont care what it is metal trash is TREASURE and for me I will make money on it. So My idea is as long as you find somthing you are doing good. and you will have days where you wont find nothing and thats ok too. Don't get discouraged when you dont find anything,
because sooner or later you will make a good find! If you have any questions
just drop me a line, Again welcome to the group I look forward to reading your posts about your outtings and finds!,,, Best Wishes,,Rob

As the OLD saying goes:

"You get what you pay for."

I do buy SOME stuff from Harbor Freight, but that is NOW where I'd buy a metal detector that I wanted to have some great features...like the probability the target is IRON, or some metal besides iron...and the depth.

So get some experience, save for something better.  You might find a good detector locally on Craig's List...BUT BE CAREFUL.  Test any detector our with samples of what you want to find...coins, rings, etc.
