Some times you get what you pay for , or get lucky .But if you can save some money and wait a bit you will be allot happier with your purchase. From what I have seen Tesoros mid range detectors look like a sweet deal and a lifetime warranty is nice to have !

Tell ya what i spent alot of time looking so heres what i ended up with, most usable ones run around the 100 to 200 range and what your looking for as far as what it does is up to you . I did get some good advice in that borrowing a few to try out really helps, read on all the ones that look like the machine you might want. I will be getting mine in a few days so if you want first hand info on the Xj9 after i try it out i would be happy to fill you in Happy hunting

As your first (And  I guarantee not last) MD I would watch ebay, kijiji, and Craig s list, and pick up a little better MD for about 1/2 to 2/3 the price.  Whites Coinmasters and Garrett Ace products get good reviews for entry level detectors. Iv also heard a lot of pro guys say they wouldn't trade there Tesoro Compadre for a anything. At $175 or so apparently it is a great machine for learning to hear whats in the ground. Which anyone will tell you is the key to success in the metal detecting game.  Best of luck.

I have read the tests on both of them C-Scopes and they come up real good, that 2M is a great little machine and it will beat alot of the bigger brand machines and if you get it you wont be wasting your money thats for sure

hope this helps
