For someone like me that is just getting started at this which one of these 3 detectors would be the best choice and why.
Garrett Ace 250
Tesoro Compadre
Tesoro Silver UMax
Or is there an even better choice? Thanks for any and all advice.
Right now i have a Bounty Hunter Discovery 2200 and have it figured out but want to upgrade

I have an ace 250 and love it.:..great price and finds stuff i want  lol  i also bought the garrett propointer and would be lost without it. So consider the investment..it is well worth it..  btw..i've heard mixed results with the ace 250 and salt beaches..but for dry sand and earth...rock on,   HH

Tesoro makes a good machine I own one my self it is a vaq, I also have two bounty hunter models
the tesoro was an upgrade from the bounty hunter land star

plus the tesoro has a lifetime warr. that makes it better
in the long run if it ever gives you problems

In this case, go for Tesoro.

The Compadre (12Khz) and the Silver (10 Khz) have higher frequenies tahn your 2200 or the ACE. That makes them better small gold finders.

They also benefit of a lifetime warranty.

If you keep your 2200, then go for the Compadre !

The Silver would be a great all-rounder.

I would recommend the Silver Sabre. The Tesoro Top of the Line models DeLeon & Cortes are based on the same circuit and it is an excellent coinshooter!

Best wishes,

Christian

Tha major difference here is tha display, as for beginners.

Most beginners like tha display. Tha 250 is a good intry
level machine that has a display. It is one of tha most
sucsessful MDs ever made, as far as sales go.

I think that a lot of more experienced detectorist would
go with Tesoro. But not all.

The Tesoeoes have a much faster response and recovery
speed. I am use to tha fast response. Tha 250 seems
slow as Christmas. But others do not seem to mind.

But, tha faster response speed allows better seperation
in trashy areas. The higher operating frequence allows
for a little more sensativity to small gold objects, and
like Christian said, tha Silver is an excellent coin machine.

I have tha Silver Sabre uMax, Compadre and have had
several Tesoroes. I have 5 at this time. They do seem to
have the same type of circutry, but not quite.

The The operating frequency of most Tesoroes ranges from
10kHz to 17.5kHz.

The response ranges are different on many machines, as
well as the features.

But they are enough alike that I do not have to try and
remember how to use one if I have not used it in a while.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Well i didn't get a Tesoro but i did get the Ace 250 and a Fisher 1212 which is a single knob, single tone, no ID machine like the Compadre. Fisher arrived today and Ace is due to get here Monday. So far i like the Fisher so i may wind up keeping it and selling the Ace and the Discovery 2200. Won't know for sure till after the Ace arrives though and i can compare them.
