Well this morning I picked up my new Minelab X-Terra 705, now I can actually contribute to the forum....when the snow disappears that is. Snowshoeing will help make that wait shorter I hope. It will also give me a chance to learn how this beast works!  Beer Chug

Congratulations.   Hope you spend sometime familiarizing yourself with the manual and even more time researching your area so you know where the honey holes are likely to be.

Congratulations on the new detector.  Just take your time with it, read the manual several times and practice with it.  You will be finding good things in not time!  Be assured that you will find a lot of trash, too!  LOL!   Grin                     Wise

Well this morning I picked up my new Minelab X-Terra 705, now I can actually contribute to the forum....when the snow disappears that is.

This is a Treasure Hunting forum, not just a metal detector forum. Treasure hunting has many facets from a thought or inspiration through to excavation of treasure or finding it just about anywhere. For example, in the past two months where I live, it has been just too nasty for going out treasure hunting with my detector yet I have managed to make more than 100 posts here about treasure or other aspects of treasure hunting. I wrote about finding and developing leads, research, technical information about the operation of detectors and helped a number of people here identify their finds.

Feel free to tell us all about the joy of owning your new detector and share with us the gut wrenching anticipation you are experiencing right now. We've all been through it and love to see others suffer, too!

Ha, love that reply! Being in this area for as long as I have I am used to having to WAIT for Mother Nature to cooperate before enjoying certain activities. You just have to adapt! I have some projects planned for the winter so I should survive..   Beer Chug

I'm in New England so I definitely know the feeling. We've got 4 inches of solidly packed frozen snow and are not expecting temperatures above 30 for the next 10 days.

So I guess it's off to the library, the historical society and even the Internet for some research. Got to plan for spring, folks.

Now, where did I put my last notebook. Oh, yes. Next to my reading glasses. Now, where did I put those glasses?

Now you sound like me mate LOL

 StuffRecoveryUnit

Well I'm very happy that you have your detector and that you will finally be able to put into practice all the things that you have learned on thunting.com  Wink I take it that you did learn something from us LOL You need to get a map of your area to mark all the areas that you have done then once in a while go back to these areas you'll be surprised at how much stuff you have missed.

All the best to you and happy hunting
Xavier
