Go Up Go Down

Hi there,

I'd like to eventually get out into the parks and other grassy areas near my place and I had a quick question on hole digging etiquette.

When you guys and gals dig a hole, do you make it a large sod plug?  Or keep it as small as possible?  Do you remove the entire plug, or leave part of it attached?

I would hate to be the reason for patches of the parks to die so any tips would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I do if I can but there just are not any here.

When I do I do the Small Plug with one side still attached.

We don't have grass here.     Sand, Dirt to the most parts.      Even the parks here have little to no grass.

Just make a decent size hole, so when you replace the plug it has a good root section. I'll take a section out trying to keep it whole with roots in tact. Then dig out the dirt below that. When finished I'll pack the dirt back and try to make sure the grass has good contact. I do keep a small piece of plastic shower curtain to make it easy getting everything back in. But really most of the digging I've done recently has been in the woods and no grass to worry about.

Go Up Go Down

we have a lot of grassy parks where spectating events, festivals and family gatherings occur.  It would be interesting I think to hit a few of those as well as the sand covered play parks.

Thanks for the tips Smiley
