This site is a good starting point to locating Mines.  Not real up to date but good starting point.. Provides Claim Numbers, last owners names.  Everything you would need to hit the recorders office and ask intelligent questions.

PM sent .   See if these guys still have a holding on the claim.  If so ask for a kitchen pass.  If Not Beet feet to the recording office and see if anyone claimed over it.  If so contact them and ask.  If no claims have been Recorded Hit it on your own.

I've had lots of luck doing stuff like this.

Hello
Thank you HoolsGoldSeeker for the tip about Sardine Creek at the Railroad and Highway under crossing.  Will check this out if I’m in that area.  Smiley

Hope you find someone to detect with in NM.  Some of the old adobe homes have silver coins buried under the foundations that people have found in NM.

Yes, unfortunately we have had bone heads knock down historic Ghost town building in their quest for nails and what not.

Hello
Some times heavy equipment is used to take down a old home for a number of reasons and if one has permission to metal detect where the old foundations where may find both silver and gold coins.  Idea
