I've tried to search the forum threads for the key-word overseas, and got lots of hits, but nothing seemed to come up with the specific question about what requirement there are (on Americans) that travel abroad and want to bring their findings home?
I was looking at this thread:

playlot find

Where a guy from the Phillipines was indicating that there were (possibly) gold bars from WWII over there. Not sure as to the accuracy of that, but still it made me ask the question about finding one said gold bar (or whatever), and bringing it home. Sure, I'd have to pay taxes on the find since it would be valuable, but would it even be legal to take it/them out of that country?

Only way to go would be US Costoms and Local Law.

Some countries will through you in the clink and through away the key for some items.

Bringing stuff in and sending out can get pretty complicated. If you are going over seas I would suggest Checking more then just the import export laws. There may even be restrictions or permits needed even to hunt.

Do a google search on international antiquities law a ton of stuff out there.
