Go Up Go Down

I am a genuine newbie, but my Dad had a White? when I was in state school about 50 years ago. I am looking to re-enter the world of detecting and I am wondering where to buy in.
I could come in at entry level but would I immediately want something more.
If I come in up the tree a bit I could be wasting even more.
I expect I will be in for the long haul.
I would love to hear some comments.

Welcome to the forum from the NT , Bolt i asked the same questions when i signed up a few months ago , got some real good advice and chose a White MXT Pro , these are an excellent allrounder  and are better than any cheaper entry level models and well priced . cheers Mick

Hello Bolt. welcome form Connecticut. I just sold my White's XLT and picked up a used MXT. It is a very good detector. I have been using Whites detectors since 1972 and would say the MXT is their best all multipurpose machine. The XLT was very good but I got tired of fooling around with all the settings. Being in ham radio for close to 50 years got tired of turning knobs <grin>.  I've tried the DFX and it is also a super machine but has a similar learning curve as the XLT.

there are many good non whites metal detectors i would recommend the fisher f75 or the f75 xlt series there a little pricey but a very good machines. i might add that its best to shop around before you commit to a machine. Hope this helps... Cheers Ryan
