Fortune Hunter

Go Up Go Down

Just got my fortune hunter for fathers day.  I took it to a local school yard.  Did not find anything but foil.  I am wondering about where can I go to do this legally?   Can I go down a rail road track?   I know of some old not used tracks up in the hills and was going to have a look around the bridges as they would have had to stay there a while to build them......

Just about anywhere that there is a pubic right of way is legal but you may run into interference from well meaning folks. For example, that strip of dirt between the curb of the street and the sidewalk is public land in many areas but since the homeowners have to mow it and maintain it, they feel it is theirs. Concede that to them and you will be much happier overall. The railway lines are almost all company owned right of way but in all of my travels and hiking along the rails, I have never once bumped into anyone who would deny me access.

Common sense is your best friend and the land tax offices are second best. If you need to know who owns a parcel of land, go there and find out.

Welcome to this highly addictive hobby. I hope your kids know they have created a monster. May God have mercy on them.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Here in New Mexico and most other States the Side Walks are put in by the Powers to be. Weather you want one or not.

The home owner is reponsible for the up keep of the side walks.   Sorta Af Azzz Backwards ea?  If you trip and skin your nose due to a fault with the paving blocks the first person they go after in the home owner.

If I was one of those home owners and you came digging around, I'd sick my dog on ya.  Oh, the dog thinks it his too.

Ask Permision from the Home Owner (And there Dog) the True Owner of the Property and go from there.
