Hi Rottie.....welcome to the group.   If you let us know the model, someone here may have access to the manual or may have the experience to help you over some of the rough spots.   The good thing is that lots of the basics are the same regardless of the machine.

Great old machine.  I found a lot of good stuff with one.  Go the the Garrett website.  They have owners manuals available online for free.  Take the time to learn that machine and how to adjust it and it will work for you.

Garrett Deepseeker and Ace 250

I had a Garrett Master Hunter w/ Deepseeker coils I bought in 1978.  Was a great detector and found quite a bit with it.  Similar to your somewhat newer Garrett Master Hunter ADS1 or 2.  I tried it out several months ago, after years of collecting dust in the garage and worked as good as the day I bought it.  It was stolen from my truck in July and literally broke my heart!  It can never be replaced and was like losing an old friend.  Anyway, keep your Garrett, as it is still a great detector and in some ways, better than some of the newer stuff.
