Christian:
The sensitivity will determine the depth of your detector. The more you turn it up, the deeper it will penetrate and pick up targets. However turning it to the max will cause your machine to get noisy and unstable giving lots of false signals. Set it to a point where you machine will not produce false signals. Like this will be at 7 - 8.

Christian

Christian, thank you for your replies to my questions. I've been running both the sensitivity and the threshhold settings at  around 5 (the 12 o'clock position) , and have been having no problems with chattering and chirping like i've had in the past. The depth has still been pretty good as I've been digging some coins in the 4-5 inch depth range. Thanks Again [great]. Frank T.

Homefire:
Cool Thread!

Can I add that the ground your hunting will dictate how high you can set it?

Low Materialized soils that don't provide much back ground signal can be hunted at MAX!!

Homefire, thanks for the added info, every 'lil bit helps. Some areas around here are a real bear, because of naturally occuring iron ore in the ground.  I'm currently relearning my Toltec 2 machine that sat in the closet for way too long.I think I got most of the bugs out of it today. Check out my post in the  "Todays Finds" section. Frank T.

more power / sensitivity = more depth --so run as much (called running hot) as the land conditions will allow --if the machine beeps or acts up all the time (falsing) back off a bit till it smooths out -- often due to minerals (in high mineral areas or at the beach--you might need to adjust your power / sensitivity levels downward esp if you do not have a manual ground balance on your machine  [great]
