Ok first let me say hi. This is my first post and I am just getting into metal detecting and was wondering if I was going to get a different coil for my minelab xterra 305 which would be best the 10.5 inch double d 18.75 kHz or the 6 inch double d 18.75 kHz. I mainly have been detecting around old houses and parks. Any suggestion is appreciated.

G'day and welcome to Thunting, and in Answer to your question, The 6" would be better for getting inbetween the junk but the 10" will go deeper but remember that 18.75khz is ment for hunting tiny Gold nuggets if you want more depth on silver and such you might want to buy one of Minlabs coils with a lower frequency somewhere around 7khz which will go deeper, but as I said that 18.75 will be hot on Gold chains and rings and tiny Nuggets but it will still work on other metals but just wont go as Deep,

Happy Hunting,,,,,AU

If your hunting ground is highly mineralized then the DD is the better way to go but in medium to mild ground the Concentric will go deeper and the Concentric will give a sharper signal response,,Some DD's do suffer from EMI but on the whole they are good all rounders.
