Hey Tabdog-
The support guy from Tesoro was Brett- somebody-I can forward the email to you. You got 18" out of that I just wanted them to tell me they had some old dusty ones on the shelf- BUT NOOO! But I am impressed with you being bragged on by those folks too. You are knowledgable- I respect that!! You the man!!! Your middle name Tesoro?

Hay FindinOldStuff,

The Vaquero, wich replaced the Eldorado is a nice machine.
It is a little deeper than the Euro Sabre.

I use the Vaquero more than the Euro Sabre.

The Euro Sabre can work better in really bad ground because
it has a true ED-180 discriminator.

The Vaquero is advertised as an ED-180, but it is really more
like an ED-165 or so.

The ED rating is simply the acceptance range of the detector.
The Vaquero can not pick up some small iron that Euro can.
That ability actually helps get more depth in really bad ground.

I do not have a large coil for the Vaquero, or I would use it.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

To be honest, Tesoro did not hang the moon.

I use them because they are light.

I use them because I hunt gold jewelery and artifacts.

The lower frequency machines work better on the
high conductive coins.

I use them because the $1,000 pluss machines are out
of my budget and too heavy.

Tesoroes work fine for finding coins. I find them all the
time.

I think a MXT or a Sovern would be nice, but the weight
is too much.

If I can not hunt because of a sore sholder, it aint worth
it to me.

That is the main thing.

But, the performance is nice. It just aint up with the high
end machines for most things.

Hope that makes sense.

It is a matter of what suites your fancy.

The trainin is my pleasure. There are people that know a
lot more than me. I picked their brains for free.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

I've used the Tejon, Vaquero and Compadre.  The Tejon had the most learning curve but I found the most with it.  Finally upgraded to the Fisher F75 and never looked back.  I've found more silver since March of this year than the entire 1 1/2 years with the Tejon.  Don't get me wrong, the Tejon is good or more suited for relic hunting, but I mostly hunt old schools

I do not get you wrong. I agree with you. The F75 is probably a
better relic machine as well.

That is what I meant when I said "Tesoro did not hang the moon."

I would like to use the F75 and then the MXT, or even the Tejon.

In that order.

But, I am old, and you will probably never get Tabdog to go heavier
than a uMax.

But, you never know,{alt}

Thanks TD and Mark.... The reason I ask is that I have been watching them on e-bay... I don't know enough about them and wanted to get another point of view about the top dog of tesoro... I hear alot of good things about fisher as well... are they real or has alot of people jumped the fisher band wagon... as for tools for digging... I really like TDs tools.... they look like they would hold up better than the constantly bending...gardening hand held shovel   Wink

From what I hear, the Fisher F75 is the real deal.
The MXT can be hard to handle in iron infested sites.
The Sovern is a tried machine. It still is reported well.
The Tejon would be a less costly, but may be hard to
handle. I truly believe that the F75 is an outstanding
machine.

The reason is becauuse of reports like Markg.

I think he is the Markg I know from else where.

But Marks reply is like those of others that I

Know have a very good understanding of what

detectors on the market have to offer.

I have not used the F75. But I believe it would

be my best choice for an upgrade.

It is a little heavier than what I use, but they

say the balance is excellent. That does really help.

That is my honest opinion.

Take for what it is worth.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog
