bought a mint  shadow X-3 from ebay.
looks like new.no depth only about 5 " I tried to email the seller and get my money back-no answer yet.
when I grab the coil wire where it goes into the coil-I can get a beep from a quarter all the way up to the control box.
The sensitivity is up all the way and if you touch the rod you get a beep and if you touch the coil wire you get a beep.
could this be an open ground somewhere or a bad coil?
thanks David

It sounds like a broken wire near the base of the coil. Easily fixed in most cases. Contact the manufacturer to see if warranty is in effect before you try to repair it yourself.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
