Whites Eagle II SL

Go Up Go Down

I'm a true beginner.  In fact I've yet to venture out for the first time to hunt.

I purchased (dirt cheap) about 3yrs ago a White's Eagle SL detector. One thing led to another and I just now powered it up for the first time after 3 years.  It *appears* to be working as designed but I don't quite know what I'm doing(yet).  Hopefully, someone on this forum owns one and is familiar with its operation.

My question regards the proper operation of mode 'A' (default mode).  As I understand the manual, it is required for the coil to be in motion in order to detect.  The question is, should I hear a loud 'beep' or a null of the continuous tone?  I hope I'm being clear enough in my question.  In a nutshell, in a mode 'A', what should I hear in the speaker upon moving over metal?

Hopefully, this isn't too basic.  I'm trying to learn to use this detector before I make my first trip.  Thus, I'm practicing in the backyard.
Any help you may offer would be appreciated.

Looking forward to my first hunting trip.

Welcome to the forum.
I still have an Eagle ii SL.
I don’t use it any more but I love the detector.
If I remember well the detector detects in motion and pin point in non motion.
You hear a beep then you push the trigger and pass the coil over the target.
The target should be where you hear the loudest beeeeep.
It’s all in the manual.
You need to read it again and again and again.
When you think you know it all read it again. you will be surprised what you missed
There is very valuable info in there.
