 [detecting]Happy Thanksgiving all,looking at the many members I'm pretty sure that there is about a 1000 years of experience in the combined members of you all I have much respect for you all in your knowledge.My question is this ,My whites quantum2is a great beginners machine can any one give me any suggestions as how to make it better?Maybe diffrent search coils or a way to tweak the programs it has. Any information is greatly appreciated from all the metal detecting gods! [pray]And thank you all!:Adrian See

Adrian, please don't take this the wrong way (especially since I'm sure that many of our members will respond with practical hardware and software tweaks and fixes), but the best way to make just about any detector better is to concentrate on making the user better (more research, more practice, more mental analysis of what you are seeing and hearing).     With that said, tweak away at the settings and try other coils---especially when soil and search conditions change.

Adrian. One suggestion on detecting in general. Teleport your self back to the era to match the area you are detecting. Look at the size of the trees. Try to figure what it looked like then and where the activity was. Remember most of the growth, bushes etc. you see today were not growing there. Look for prominent points that may have attracted people. Don't be afraid to move aside branches of a bush and check underneath. I'm sure the gurus will come out of the woodwork and give you some specific tips on your quantum.
