Go Up Go Down

Hello.

I want to build a simple and cheap MD.
I need to find a little 1cm/1cm metal object, that I lost in my back yard on the surface, so I don't want anything fancy.

At first I wanted to build the first MD from the links i posted #1  . I knew that I had ~5 kg of the right copper wire for the coil, but i can't find it anywhere, so I am left with only ~ 3kg of 1.81 mm (13 awg) , ~ 25 meters of 0.54mm (23.5 awg)   and plenty of 0.21mm (32 awg).

The question is, what coil can i make now and for what metal detector.

Hope that somebody takes the time to answer.
Thank you.

It's costomary to introduce your self in these parts.

Have you looked at Simple BFO circuits?

Those all look like TR type.

BFO is much simpler.  If it's on top of the ground, it will find it.

I'm more interested in the coil, I can make any PCB, but don't have enough copper wire for the coil I want. I was asking what coil can I make with the wire i have for a MD.

You Need to make the coil as Prescribed in the Schematic for it to work.

If your short on wire, dissect the yoke from a old TV,  or buy some.

Best to Buy.

That way you get what you need and don't wast your time with crummy used wire that could short out on you.

That's the way.

Sorry.

I made "poor's man metal detector"
Not very happy with it, it's good for big metal targets but not for small metal peaces that i need.

Now I'm considering to make houndogs IB metal detector or a simpler PI  "surf pi v1.2"

It is INCREDIBLY easy to build and it's very, very good!
It WILL find a 1" coin at six or seven inches!

This is also simple and does note require shielding for the coils.

What do you say about it ?

I wouldn't think it would be as sensitive as the one I suggested.
I built the "bounty" in an evening, shielding the coils isn't a hassle - dead easy.
I was surprised how stable and sensitive it is.
Six inches or so on a 1 inch coin with less than a  a handfull of components isn't bad!
