Detecting how can this  board be rebuilt to make it better, dont have a choice because of economy so want to take a crack @ building a new board on existing pcb, but dump the transformer and bad transistors that maybee causing out of whack behavior, so will go with a bfo to match the coil, can you use parts from a say micronta 4003 pcb? have the board but not sure which parts i can pull from it so this is my sit.....any good bfo designs welcome ......

Would you describe what the machine is doing? Let's start there and see what might help you a bit.

Do you have an owner's manual?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Detecting the unit after warmup now has the tendency to shift frequency rather dramaticly , board is sound, i think it mabee a ossilator transistor, this one uses 5 npn,s the one in question is a 2n3638 , there are 2 of these on the board, also there are 3 2n3694 s on the board in series.....no schematics just the pics i put on the website, also the question of the transformer on this board, i think it can be subsituted with a opamp of eqivilant......for stability....

Before you go replacing parts, there are more things for you to check. The first is metal in your shoes. Do your shoes have metal eyelets for the shoelaces? Do you have steel toed shoes? Either of those can cause your drift in a BFO detector.

JetCo cases are lined with foil which is grounded by a spring tab. Make sure someone didn't remove the foil. If so, common household foil will work fine if you glue it in on all the inside walls except for the control side.
