No Idea what a MLL100 is.

In the electrical world, yes Tar,Asphalt and oil is a Dielectric or insulator.

It sure would be nice if you would jump over to New Users and Introduced your self.

Until thin, Welcome.

Any ground resistance will be affected by any substance in it but not necessarily on it. It depends how far down the asphalt seeped and how deep your probes are. As to whether or not it will go up or down, that will depend on the composition of the asphalt. You would also have to know the resistance before you put the asphalt down.

To be honest, I would not dig up an asphalt driveway or roadway based on resistivity readings. That would be very foolish.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

goldigger,

yeah it would be foolish anyway, but i am talking to a precious metal that is coated of asphalt, tar or any other insolators not pertaining to asphalted road.i am from the phil island and most treasure hunters here are looking for the yamashita treasures (ww2 treasures).most treasure hunters using metal detector failed to locate the said treasures because of that insolators.

I've never used a resistivity machine, but I might suggest you do an experiment and bury an object with and without the asphalt coating to see what the difference is.That's not going to give you the exact difference, but it might give you an idea of what to expect.

Asphalt will not hide metal from a detector. Whoever told you that was not knowledgeable. You can locate gold in asphalt. You may want to conclude that there is nothing there. Occam's razor. The simplest solution is often the correct solution. Ergo, there is nothing there to find.
