Correct. Fraud works best in the shadows, without any explanation or validation.

As for bobbers, I don't have much use for them. The response time is very slow. Fred Stewart of Stewart Research Labs (Johnson City, TN) sells a bobber called the Magna-Wand for about $75. It also has a power load and comes with two baited tips, gold and silver, but it should be easy enough to attach your own sample if you want. Although I haven't used the UDR the diagram appears to be essentially the same as the Stewart rod. My opinion here is the bobbers are a substitute for people who can't use an L-rod. Of course that doesn't mean you will be automatically able to use one if you can't use L-rods. Still figure several years practice to dowse compared to a few weeks with an MFD.

I've used a lot of equipment in the past thirty-plus years. When I started using the MFD-type equipment, my finds increased and it's a lot less stressful than dowsing. What you probably already noticed is no other LRL/MFD users post on this forum or others. They are tired of the abuse that appears to be supported by the metal detector industry.

Hey Homie,
You and I seem to be missing post's in this thread, all I see half the time are answers to question's that dont appear to have been asked, and apparently there was an explanation in here somewhere that I missed.

I should point out here that bobbers are not all that popular. I don't have an accurate figure, but from my experience it's probably a few percent of all dowsers that use one. By far L-rods are the tool of choice for treasure hunting in the field. And I don't want everyone who has failed with L-rods to rush out and buy one. I would suggest to buy a low cost one or build your own and learn to use it first. You see, all the expensive equipment is not for those who can't use one in the first place. Even the Revelation Locator Rod I sell for $125 is difficult for beginners. It's like high performance anything--very touchy.

Hi Mike...Can you provide more information regarding "Revelation Locator Rod" which you produce. I tried the L rods recently and it works, you mentioned it's difficult for biginners to learn how to operate the revelation locator rod. For your opinion please.

The Revelation Locator Rod has magnetic-type bearings so the rod moves easily and most importantly very smoothly. The typical rod with a bushing handle tends to hang up or snag in places. I designed it because I wanted something better than what was available. The RLR has what I call a "low start-up torque theshold". That means for a beginner the rod will swing all over the place or else the person will have such a stiff hold they can't relax and are always correcting. If you know how to use an L-rod it will still take some time to learn to handle it. This has been my experience from several novice users at a local dowsing group. And of course rank beginners want to see immediate results. Not to say they could never use one, just it's going to take time and patience. Beginners and skeptics have neither. While there is nothing magic about it, there are other features to help. Can't give away all my secrets.

Just to give you an idea of how sensitive the RLR is, I set it over the edge of a table with a weight on the handle so it wouldn't move and I gave the rod a swing. It was still moving almost five minutes later.

I designed the RLR to help detect the discriminated signal line from MFD-type equipment. The rod itself does not identify the target, it acts as a transducer.  And with MFD equipment, there is no guarantee.

I've never done any testing to find maximum depth or distance with any locator. I've read some MFD reports that vary from 20 feet deep to much more.

The RLR can be used as a dowsing rod. I've located test targets with it and it works for map dowsing, too.
