Go Up Go Down

Wasn't really sure where to post this.  I have a couple of finds to show ya'll and a few questions if you don't mind.  These bottles were found about 2 feet down.  There is all kinds of metal and bones at this depth so I'm thinking it's a dump but I've hit this clay layer that is not normal for the area I am hunting.  I'm wondering if any of you experts think that this is a trash dump that happens to be on top of a privy.  I have a few pictures of the clay.  I have not tried to dig through it yet because I am finding tons of bottles anyway.  Thanks as always for the help everyone!  P.S. I am a complete newbie so I will take any advice that ya'll will give me.

Hey Josh nice bottles your digging there. How big of an area does the dump cover? The clay could be the left overs from an old outhouse but at 2 feet I have some doubts. Is the place close to a old house, barn are maybe a camp ground?

Thanks you both for taking the time to answer me.  So far the hole I have is 3 foot wide and 10 foot long.  It is about 60 foot from a late 1800's house.  There are also 100's of good size rocks that look a little too organized to just be there.  The hole is right between a hand dug septic tank (The home was updated and lived in until the 60's) and a concrete slab with a hole in it and a vent pipe coming out of it.  Seems the closer I get to the house the older the finds are.  The digging is rough enough as it is so I don't want to waist my time digging through the clay/ash if ya'll don't think it is anything.  I just know that it is not natural to my area.  At my depth I should have hit a solid level of shale which is everywhere around here.  Either way I have found at least 75 bottles so far so I'm thrilled.  Especially since I'm a newbie and this is my first find ever.  Once I clean some more of them I will post a big group of them.  Thanks again guys.
