Three of us got to dig Sat 1/8/11
Found lot's of stuff will post find pics after I clean up some of them.
The best thing I got out of the deal was a new diggin bud.
Flasher will post some of his Keepers as will I later.
Roy does not do the internet thing so his finds will have to wait till I can get him over to my place.
Have a good day.
I'm the tall handsome one standing with the Bell Telephone sign, one of my finds that day.

Here's a couple of items that did not take much cleaning.
The Indian is the first one that I have found that was not broken in some manner.
The Race car is in pretty good condition but could use some attention.
I'll post more later. We got a bunch of stuff but I don't keep everything.
I gave away almost all of the bottles.
Flasher carried out two gallon buckets of bottles.
I warned him he would be tempted to overload himself......and he did.
He had to stop several times to rest.
When we got back to the truck he realized I was right and vowed not to do that again.
Ain't that right flasher.......

Thanks Seldom.
I have already had two offers for the sign and I haven't even got it cleaned up yet.

Well i say i learned my lesson but i never do. I had a blast and i have to agree the best find of the day was a new friend. I enjoyed it very much. I didn't find a lot but i gained the knowledge that is priceless. I have finally got to do something i have wanted to do for a long time. Soon as i get my stuff cleaned up i will post some pictures to cold to go outside and wash bottles. My best finds were Out4golds trash. Where is the picture of the skull you dug? I  cant thank  you enough for letting me go with you and i cant wait to go again.

Hey Dude, don't call the stuff I laid aside "trash", they are but neglected treasures. There was a time I would have kept a lot of them, especially the pig jar and the green spice jar. I have a lot of the pig jars and one of the green spice jars. Be sure to post that green jar in particular. I've never seen one posted here.
The sodas, well I've got a s*^t load and do not necessarily need more. Besides for the same reason you had trouble getting them out of the site, I would have had double trouble.
My knees restrict me and limit as to how much I can carry  Wise .
Your stamina was admirable   Great.
I would like to keep more of them but space and inability keep me restricted to keeping mostly the smaller bottles. Such as the perfume bottles and the figurines.
Now yes, there were "trash" bottles but I buried them the ketchup, vinagar, wine, whiskey, and the mayo jars were plentiful. I set aside the more desireable specimens for others to pick through if they want.
Well Flasherr, it's Tuesday and I am already thinking about the next time, and I can tell from your enthusiasm there will be a next time.
Be sure to look into getting a flat blade turning fork you can move twice the material with one of those as you can with a shovel. This comes from someone who has been doing this for many many years.....
I retreived my marble finds from my bag and took a pic. Not much for marbles this time but it's smoething. Roy found 21 and I took home 12.
I'll get in touch soon.
If there is anyone else out there who wants to go let me know........The place is well over 4+ acres in size......Lot's of places to dig......

We know it's not a real skull but it did look good.
It was the heaviest thing I have carried out of there in a long time.
When I take a pic, I'll post it in another thread and mention this post.

i didn't notice you left the pig jar maybe ill get lucky and still be there next time. i just glanced real quick and picked up the dr pepper bottles and forgot the green one. Roy was half way out when  i finally got all my stuff together. I didn't want to get lost in the woods so i just hurried. until ive dug enough  ill continue to carry out to much. some of the common stuff i have labels for and when i get to the older stuff i want to purple some stuff so ill carry it out also. carrying it out isn't the problem its digging for 7 hrs then carrying it out is the problem plus being out of shape and over weight ( i probably weigh as much as you and Roy put together )lol.

i will get me one of those forks and a tarp or carpet. it was a learning experience for me.I went out and got my marbles but camera batteries were dead so i couldn't take picture. ive already been looking at the weather forecast Smiley

I forgot my camera but we were back at it again this  past Saturday. I was lucky and the pig jar was still there it is now my marble Jar. No great finds but had fun. One guy must have dug 10 feet down boy that guy has some stamina. As i stated before i didn't learn my lesson 10 gallons of bottles carried out. As they say one mans trash is another mans treasure. Well im picking up the trash of other peoples trash if that make since. letting them soak its going to be a lot of cleaning.

Well as a collectable the pig jars are one of the things that we don't let get by us.
If we do not desire to keep something we will set them up in an area
where anybody can pick up anything that they want from there "Toss Out".
The "Pig" jar, when it was sold as a shelf item, it contained a relish.
I have found them with the lids but they are always rusted beyond keeping.
There are a few other types of Jars that I consider collectable and "Roy Boy"
found one of the tipping gentleman jars. It too contained a relish at one time.
I say tipping, in that it has two "bottoms". I'll take a pic and post it at another time.
It is kind of hard to explain. One of the other jars that I consider collectable is the "Jumbo" peanut butter jars.
There are others but not as well suited to keeping as these mentioned.
BTW: I have several Die Cast metalic toy cars out of there.
Plus a few of the very first plastic toys.
The plastic toys don't retain their shape or their elasticity very well when buried for 60+ years in that environment.
I like finding the toys they are usually a good indicator that you are in an area where marbles will be found.
Here a couple of the cars from a previous post in "Die Cast" that came form there.
