belts and wallets are a luxury to some people.  (I wonder if they can use the rattler for western boots?)

$$$$$ (Diamondback) $$$$$

We have rattlers here in upstate New York, and it's downright the snow belt and cold as heck here for a good 5 months out of the year, so it amazes some people that we have them here too.

lol, You got me thinking about gathering up some sacks and filling them with these beggers, wonder where I could exchange a bag for a bag of cash...

I always welcome snakes into my camp. Over the years I have kinda developed a taste for their sweet white meat. Sort of a cross between frog and turtle. Yummm. Did you know rattlesnake meat sells for $25.00 a pound? Their skins are easy to tan and make nice belts or hatbands. Just soak them in a 50/50 mix of ethyl alcohol and glycerin for a few days.
Really guys, treasure comes in many forms. You would pick up a hundred dollar bill if it happened to slither into your camp, wouldn't you?

I've had to give up eating snake meat (except on the sly)......wife has a saying "lips that taste snake will never taste mine", and she means it.    As far as she's concerned, the only good snake is a pipe snake.

Jim,
You might check for any exotic deli's in your area. Or...you could put an ad on craigslist and cut out the middleman!

Just wish we could do that with this hobby. (It gets darn expensive having this OCD!)

Choice deli's in my area?
Don't know about bagging these critters mate, I'm thinking the Health Department might stop by to check & see if they meet prime USDA requirements!  Grin

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
An up close introduction to your meat donors ought to take care of that problem!

LOL!   Many Moons ago, my father belonged to a Hunting Club in Tucson.

We had a pit BB-Q in the Rincon Mtns.

Bear, Mtn Lion, Rabbit, Deer, Elk, Coyote, Javelina, Snake caught on site.

We Feasted for three days on that one.

Any of those meats with a few scoops of Potato Salad makes the Best Meal to be had.

Yep, I ate a pile of it all.

Ah, Homefire. my kind of menu! Round it out with some Buffalo, a black dog, and some beans for campfire music and it'd be perfect.
The main thing that made the Apache warriors so hard to subdue was the fact that if it walked, flew, crawled, swam, or slithered it was fair game. Mother nature will feed you well, as long as you ain't too finicky.
