Back in the 80's I was stationed in the UK.

The RAF (Royal Air Force) had TP made of what you would call wax paper.

Ha!  Try That one!!!!!!

Hey, like I said earlier, be glad you live in the land of luxury.  Homefire isn't exaggerating.....a lot of places you had that or something that resembled rough cardboard on a roll.....neither is particularly inviting (but given my choice, I'd opt for the cardboard).   So add civilized tp to your list of things your thankful for when you start weighing the day.

I was looking earlier today at a site that showed  cathedral pickle jars going for $1,161 for a single jar, and a set of three going for $2,225, one that had cross hatching on it. They are on the lower part of the page at:

Good luck.

Now about that toilet paper story that popped up.

I can top that one. I was stationed in Italy. The TP at most places is what we would call crepe paper. Do you remember using crepe paper back in grade school. It came on a roll and was used to make streamers. It was very rough and had some elastic feel to it. You could stretch a foot long piece out to maybe 18 inches. The Italian TP was lavender in color which was bad enough. I visited the Vatican and they had the purple poop paper in the stalls that was impregnated with soap. There was a tiny little sink on the wall of the stall so you could wet the paper. I guess some of those people must been funky enough to need the scrubbing properties! I carried my own roll of TP everywhere I went. This picture looks just like a roll of Italian TP.

Just don't confuse the bidet for a drinking fountain.

We had a bidet (douche bowl) in our apartment. We were the First tenants in the place so it had never been used. None the less, I wasn't going to dip my butt in a toilet bowl. So I used it for a while to wash my feet when I got home from work every evening. Later down the line I won a goldfish at a little carnival and guess where he lived? My wife cleaned the bowl one day with comet and didn't rinse well so the fish died. Then I lined it with plastic wrap and then poured melted wax into it. I made it a big candle with one wick. I later added two more wicks and actually used it whenever the odor in the bathroom got a little heavy. We never used that thing for it's intended purpose and never had any desire to do so. I at one time had started to write a novelty book called "101 things to do with your douche bowl besides douching."

Back in 1966 in Turkey you did not need TP!

You Parked your stuff over the bomb site and did your thing Hoping you hit the hole Not SPlating on your shoes!.

Then being a good Muslim, you used your left little finger to wipe what needed cleaned.

With the little Water Spicket you cleaned off your hand.

Sewer pipe were ran over water pipes and they all leaked.

Yep! I remember the days.

Just a Jog back in time.

You need to clean her up before any ID or condition evalutation can be made.

There are many factors that go into antique bottle values, type/rarity/color/condition to name a few. I've had a few cathedrals, and while the clear or aqua colors are the most common they can still be worth a nice little penney depending on style and design of the panels.

Post some pics after you clean her up a bit, and be careful while cleaning it.

Cheers & nice finds, the little Ink is a nice little find as well.  Smiley

Jim
