Hi and welcome! I'll have to check out your site - thanks for the link. I like old bottles, too. Appreciate photos that are just as you find them, dirt and all.  Smiley   Sue

Thanks Sue....I have been treasure hunting since I was 14. I am 31 now. I metal detected for years before I started digging old bottles. These days I do a little of both. Please feel free to check out my site. I would be happy to post a banner for you there to advertise your site as well.

I briefly looked at your site - bookmarked it and definitely plan to return. I'm always keeping an eye out for old bottles while detecting. Privy digging pictures always intrigue me. I've dug around in old surface dumps out in the country, but those are mighty big holes to dig without knowing something is there. Sue

Hi Digger

I used to own an earthmoving business and have dug up plenty of old bottles in the past .   One time I had to dig up the footings of this old pub , and was down 20 ft and found several hand blowen bottles and a clay pipe .
One of my favourite bottles is dark green although it looks black untill you hold it to the light . I think it was a wine or port bottle, when you sit it on the bench it wobbles at the base and the neck is a bit crooked . you can see the stretch marks on it when it was blowen .

i got a question exactly how do you botle hunt or what ever i dug upn some bottles the other day while metal decting and i thought they were prety cool until i saw these.  im now thinking about getting into this hobby so were do you go to find old bottles?  Do you just dig random holes until you u find one or what? What do you dig with jsut a random shovel or what do they make special digers or somthing?  i would like to know everything i can about this bottle collecting hobby. for example were to find them, how to find them, were to look for them and etc anything else i need to now to start this hobby.

Hello and welcome to our forum!

Thanks for sharing your finds with us! Bottle digging isn't popular in Europe but I have seen some great finds from the USA.

I am looking forward to seeing your find and will make sure to visit your forum.

Best wishes,

Christian
