Not Exactly Bottles, but Definitely Glass

(1/1)

BitburgAggie_7377:
I found 3 of the purple apothecary bottle stoppers that were complete enough to identify during my Labor Day trip.   This is the only one of the 3 that was actually complete.
As for the green heart, it is the second that I've seen in as many months.   Not sure whether it was a pendant or a locket, but I'm pretty sure that it was a piece of jewelry.  Too bad the upper edges are missing.    Part of the reason I lean towards locket is the shell motive on the "outside" and the delicate heart wreath of flowers on the flat inside.

The green bits of glass may be from a decorative stopper on a perfume bottle. Imagine them being part of a stopper and used as a handle.

Attached is an Art Deco example from the 1930s. Yours are probably older.

I thought about that or even ornamentation for a lampshade.   However, the photo doesn't do justice to the detail on the heart wreath on the back ("flat") side of the piece.   I've been searching jewelry catalogs, but so far I haven't found a match.
By the way, the other one I've seen was found by someone else about  350 to 400 miles away from where I found mine.   The more I handle the piece, the more it feels like it was meant to be a piece of jewelry.   But we all know you can't always trust how a piece "feels".
Thanks, GD.   I'll keep an open-mind to that possibility while I continue the search.

I'm sorry, but that response makes absolutely no sense.   It does not track with anything discussed in the thread.   If I'm wrong about that, please feel free to enlighten me.
