Hi Harold,
As you can imagine these were very exciting finds, along with these there a couple of dozen buttons, the buckles were only about 12 feet apart.
This makes me think there are burials at this location, I can almost imagine wounded and dead solidiers laying there waiting for medics or burial.       HH   Johnnn

Yea   you  would   think   that,  when  i  use  to  hunt  up  in  new England  i  had  a   spot   that   i  found  that  was  like  yours, i  found  a  lot  of  old  coins  and  buttons  and  it  was  right  next  to   a  small   stream,  and  i  can  think  of  what  happened  to  the  people  that  was  there.  Harold

Similar plates have been found in the southeastern U.S.

Go to the top of any page then do a search on musket balls being sure to select Entire Forum. John has already posted hundreds of pictures of his musket ball finds as have others.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hi.
I'm  a relative newbie to this site.
From what I see, I would almost certainly say they were horse harness mounts. Found very similar here in the UK.
