Hi Red,
Your finds are very similar to the ones I find along the Niagara Peninsular at various locations, the button looks like the 1820's type Artillery and the cuff Link I would say is WW1 period I have posted a pic of mine from that area they show up along with WW1 military items and we believe at tent sites as you can see I have quite a few and my detecting buddy has just as many.
You may be close to where we are detecting or just coincidence.

Hi Red,
I have been posting for a few years now, you may have recently joined I will post a pic of some of the buttons I have found over the years.
Sites are vanishing quickly now we have lost 3 very productive sites to urbanization and golf courses, its difficult to stear you to a site as ours are on private land so take care where you go and stay away from the Forts or at least the grounds around them there are some parks along the river that will produce goodies and you wont get bothered too much.....HH....Johnnn

Well Gents, I have just had a look in my book of buttons and according to that crown on it it  says either
Queen Victoria 1837 - 1901 or Queen Elizibeth II, So it must be Queen Victoria (Victorian)

thanks for shareing

Hi johnnn. Wow those are some absolutely amazing finds.I'm also loosing some sites to i actually just lost my favorite one to an arena. i know better then going near the forts a guy in town here was caught in our fort metal detecting they took his detector and gave him a hefty fine. I was doing a bit more research on the fort here fort malden and notice that the park beside it was actually part of the fort at one time and there where two cannon emplacements where there park is and also a parade square so i think I'm going to head over there tomorrow hoefully ill get lucky.

                                                                                                                                                                      best of luck Ryan

Hi RR,
I didn't think its was 1812 as I have several and more likely as you say  either "the Prince Regent" or Victorian.....Thanks for looking it up...HH...Johnnn

Hi Ryan,
The site where you found the button and cuff link needs a good close look, I can't imagine you have cleaned that place out.
Malden and Amhurstburg featured quite often during the war of 1812 so surrounding area's that means open land that may look uninteresting could show some goodies.
I worked in Malden for a week some time ago and visited the fort, it seems that in the past they actully "Built houses" right up to the fort so there will be some very interesting back yards around there.
.............HH.....Johnnnn.

PS if you can look back at past posts you will see many of mine with 1812 stuff on show..
