I have attached a button scan which I think has a train(coal/wood burner) inside an oval. The size of the button is about the size of those found on a bib overall. This came from an old trail in Idaho. Let me know if you have any info.

Most of the back was rusted away-it was made of an iron material, while the front was made from brass. Any ideas?

Railroad workers from the late 1800s wore coveralls which used that kind of a button. My guess would be from that time period.
