I would guess any military documentation that old would be in the Nat Archive but they may also keep a set on site?

Ft Sill is a pretty sprawling place now so I would imagine it's grown. Was just there last year when my son was stationed there. There is a large wilderness area with some older portions where they have a wild buffalo herd, maybe it's in that section and not paved over? Might also be some info in Lawton library as the town borders the fort, although I don't know how old the town is.

edit: There is a Ft Sill museum in Lawton. Looks like there might be some old layout maps if anyone is near there and interested. I made 2 trips there think I'm done  Grin

Nice map of the 1874 Fort  Smiley   Wonder how much different the 1892 Fort looked.

Did you happen to notice the link to the Post Trader

?   That would be the most likely candidate for "Trading Post"

Another thing, as I remember, is that every domestic fort I was stationed at when I was in the Army had a post historian.  You might be able to contact the person who holds that position at Ft. Sill, for any information!

I was checking out another link which described many of the original buildings as still being in use. Seems like you might be able to do an overlay in GE to figure out how much stuff has been built over the suspect area. ( provided the target building is shown on the map)
