Your story made me get my journal that i had kept when i had more time to hunt .It will bring you back to that very day of that great find or perhaps just the poison ivy that you caught that day.May 14 1993 at a wooded lot with a old foundation and old tennis court ,i had just started detecting not even 10 swings of my Whites Spectrum along the imaginary line that was once the chain link fence of the tennis court when i found the little plastic coin purse with what was some small childs lunch money, 3 buffalo nickles, 1 mercury dime, 3 rosies and a 1906 barber dime.I will allways remember that find.

Yes the thrill of discovery is a wonderful experince. Once you have it you want it over and over again. Its the search for that same feeling that has pushed so many treasure hunters and prospectors and archeaologists. We all have the search for this thrill motivating us to seek and to find. Its not a greed thing for me but finding something sure is nice.

Addicted at 8years old first detector from Radio Hack under x-mas tree, the stories sound so familiar. Two dials on/off  Volume   and 1 other i think. Ugly orange noisy beeeeeeep!
What fun I had digging up the neighbors backyards.40 years later still love that sound!
