Ok, kids story time
Somewhere near the town of Mountain Springs in Clark County Nevada two chests filled with silver are said to be buried. In 1897, two brothers and a driver were bringing a load of supplies from Utah to the settlement at Mountain Springs, and also two chests containing $20,000 in silver they were going to use to invest in the mining company there. Right before they got to the camp they were attacked by Indians. One brother was killed in the fight and the other brother and the driver were wounded so badly that they were left for dead. It was several days before they were found.  They were taken to the camp of the colorado mining company and before they died told the prerson who was nursing them that they had buried the two chests of silver behind a large rock sometime during or after the attack. A search was made after the two died from their wounds and exposure.  The burned out remains of their wagon were found but the searchers were unable to find the chests.  A little searching might make someone rich here.
This is the one I'm looking for. If you find it let me know so i stop looking.
Earl

I remember some ruins in the Spring Mountains southwest of Vegas. Would that be the town of Mountain Springs? It's not far from the Potisi mine.

Carrying $20,000 in silver is not possible with one horse or two. Each chest would have to contain $10,000, which would weigh over 600 pounds. Too heavy for a pack horse. Also too heavy for a buckboard or wagon unless the bottom was made of steel. Wood couldn't handle that weight concentrated over a small area of the flooring. In addition, two brothers and a driver on the run from Indians would be unable to wrest two 600 pound chests into a hole they dug while firing their weapons to stay alive. It's very unlikely that this story is true.

These stories take on a life of their own sometimes but bear very little truth in them.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Gotta agree who has time during a firefight or after being severely wounded to bury that much weight

I have heard the same story, living here in Vegas
From what I have gathered, it is on the Blue Diamond Road, toward Pahrump
does this match your intel?
It would be fun to search in a group if your up to it
