Personally I think this is a bunch of malarkey, flames coming out of the ground, where gold is buried Ha! No no!
Everyone knows it's alien invaders, coming back to find a piece of a lost space craft or a recording device.
Swamp gas that too is a bunch, those space aliens just know we down here are really gullible
and have superimposed on our brains what they want us to think! Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted Cheesy

It's a rock on the ground, it's a specimen when you take it home.

What's that phenomenon have to do with mythological beliefs?

Been there, saw that. It bounced across the ground just like the name implies
"it bounced" then dissipated just as quick as it happened.
I never saw a "Bolt" strike, but I tingled all over at the time.Shocked
I was working as a tree trimmer and climber.
I was watching from the truck, as a storm was passing through.

There are, but there are also legends of these "ghostly" lights or auras associated with the desert ( I'm thinking that J Frank Dobie mentions them in one or two of his books, but I wouldn't bet my favorite detector on it)

Hello All

Many countries have experienced similar phenomenon. When I worked  in northern Australia has have what they call up there called Min Min lights. The natives are superstitious of them. And in their legends the Min Min means debil debil lights (devil lights )

I suspect legends of ghost flames or lights point to buried treasure is more folklore than reality. Dobie made mention of these legends because he was a first of all a folklorist than a treasure hunter recording the wonderful oral traditions of the American South West.

Interesting all the same.
