There is a forum on dowsing, I believe.  I'm sure that you can find your answer in that forum. Smiley

personaly if it was me i would look for info on this and maybe a map of the local area from as far back to the robbery as possible and compare it to the map of the local area now and look for spots that stand out (depending on how detailed the map is).  the graph it off in about (10 x 10) squares then turn discrimination way down and start the hunt. but search all of the (10 x 10) area over three times real slow because alot of dirt can acumulate over 150 or so years. then if you dont find nothing give the trees a look and md them if u want because if the tree is still around the tree would have probley grown around the three steel rings. then if you were sure it was behind ur house i would give up and say it was made up if you didnt fing any thing. but plz keep us informed this sounds rather intresting. Grin Cheesy Wink Smiley keep on keepin on

I had a neighbor that had told me the same thing.  Get a Platte map from as far as I could or from about around the time of the robbery.  Map it out and search grid by grid so I don't search the same place.  Also, the area has no metal or anything, so if I find something then its going to be something interesting.  I do have in mind that the area has drastically changed, with all the rain a lot of the ground has been victim to erosion and is a lot smaller than it used to be.  Hopefully the cache was not in that area, but I've yet to search the place.  I don't know when it will start or end, but I will be sure to give any updates.

metal_inspector;
Hi, read some of the posts today and it seems they mostly concur, however, there is always the chance anything once there could have gone into the ravine, IF it has grown since the robbery occurred. But saying that could be pessimism, so be optimistic, instead.

Ok  on MY treasure story, I will have to sit and try to remember the details,  as it was told to me about 1958, and the last part of the story had to have happened between 1953 and 1958.

I do know that it is NOT general knowledge (until I let it out) so no-one has ever looked for the alledged treasure... hey, I'm not saying it is there, for sure, just that it is supposed to be there.
Its a good tale.

Brian AKA goldigger (a few days...)

I have not really thought of the cache possibly getting into the ravines.  I would say that the ravines had mainly grown over time after the robbery.  However, I would have to say that they had probably not grown considerably, to be exact.  I will never know until I get back there and see for myself.

My robbery here, as I have mentioned before, is something that has been passed down by family.  That does not mean that a archive newspaper does not mention the robbery, but would not mention as to where the cache would be since, they wouldn't know for sure.  Perhaps a ancestor or even a friend to the family may have seen some shady characters riding back into the Walkindaw river area.

I will wait for your post about your story.

Until then,

~Metal_Inspector~

Thank you for the info.  I was suggested dowsing before, and I have not really looked into it as of yet.  I will look into it in the Dowsing forum.  Thanks again.
