Hi All.  Does this count as a cache find or not Huh?  From the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), close by the Lausdell Crossroads, near to the "Twin Villages" of Rocherath-Krinkelt.  This was really nothing at all.  Always photographed and turned in - never left for others to find (like kids) !!!  A Belgian friend and I dug all that in about 2 hours.

Ralph

You two were a couple of busy little beavers in that 2 hours.

BitburgAggie_7377 -

Yeah, we were that !!!  From your username you were at one time in the Bitburg, Germany area, right??  Maybe the airbase???  Used to go there quite a lot.  Spent four years in Bavaria at a Little place called Memmingen AB (NATO strike Wing), then a year at Sembach, then another three at Ramstein.  I would've never come home, but the family was ready to leave after eight years.  Gosh, I still miss it - everything !!!  The people, the food, the detecting, etc, etc, etc.  I hunted all over the Ardennes as well as parts of Italy, Sicily, Belgium, the Netherlands and England.  Things were different back then, no one really cared about what you found (unless it proved valuable - like Roman gold coins and things).  I'll bethcha we could swap some stories - all true of course (just like the one that got away)!

Ralph

My wife and I were dependents at the High School on the base at Bitburg.  Both of our dads were stationed there with the 36th TFW and/or one of its direct support groups.  My younger brother managed to graduate high school, enlist in the Air Force, complete two different tech schools, and still get to Germany as his second permament duty station before my parents managed to return to the US (although the second half of my Dad's tour was further down the German French border).    Between Volksmarches and running, I think I covered all of Luxembourg and good portions of the Eifel and of the Luxembourg region of Belgium on foot.
