Crazy Small World we live in.

I was stationed in the UK in the 80's .

I was in Telecoms, worked circuits all through Europe.

BitBurg was in the Mix.

Ramstein, Lausdell ,Sembach and a pile of places that did not exist.

What a Hoot!

Yeah, it's dangerous--especially if you don't know what you're doing and/or start digging around all willy-nilly.   When I was in the area a little over 30 years ago, they had a fire out close to the border in an area that had been an ammunition dump.....they pretty much had to establish a defensive perimeter and just let the fire burn itself out once stuff started going off.   I know it made the local newspapers as well as the Stars and Stripes and I pretty sure it made the international papers if anyone wants to check (1972--1976).   Plus every so often you'd read about a farmer who hit something he shouldn't have while plowing a field.

Nice finds, but must admit I would be a LITTLE bit scared of picking those thing up. Even the digging has to be very careful.... you never know what you could hit with a spade or pick.... But I love it... especially the helmets.

Pappy,
I spent 10 years in Europe, but in my case, it was me that wanted to be stateside....the family wanted to stay! Been here (states) for a year now....love it! 2 years ago, my son and I went to Ireland for 5 days....flew there on Ryan Air...out of Memmingen AB. I'm not sure when it was closed, but apparently Ryan Air bought the flight line and tower....the rest of the basse was fenced off.....buildings not being used for anything.

Lots of good memories from europe.

Europe sucks, it's cold and wet 85% of the time Belgium being one of the worst then France and Germany but it's still a great place for detecting and sight seeing but to live there, well I don't think that I'll ever do that again. I believe that detecting in the Ardennes is a No No these days.

All the best

So do I...and I hate to act like a liberal, but sometimes the situation warrants it.
