I've done a bit of it myself  in my local area.  Normally use my GPS for treasure hunting and travelling.  Quite a few people do though.

I know folks who are very active, but I've only gave it a shot a couple times...
My Magellan GPS Pioneer doesn't seem to have the best resolution.

Sure works great finding mouth of the harbor when coming in through fog, though!
