Of all the stories surrounding gold bars and money that were taken or just plain lost, what is the consensus or laws surrounding ownership and keeping of things found? Like the story of a abandoned mine in northern california that is suppossed to contain gold bars that were lost in a cave-in and evetually forgotten over the years, if you found them and no one had a mining claim on that property, would it be yours? Is there anything written about that? Any one have any experience with this? Would you just have to pay taxes? I never read anything about this subject. Would you just keep it to yourself and try to sell the items?

I would think a mine being abandoned someone would still have a claim on it,and if i did find money where ever else i would most likely keep it and sell it down the road  and with that said welcome aboard,,,, locatetreasure
