Go Up Go Down

I'm located in Orange County, California, and am looking for a seasoned metal detecting enthusiast that is willing to go on a cache-hunting expedition in mid-July of this year.  Our destination: My parents' home town located in Michoacan, Mexico.  Several residents of the town have recently found--within the last 8 months--caches filled with gold and silver coins.  Other residents know of caches burried in their properties, but lack the technology and know-how to pin-point their location; these individuals are very willing to share their riches with those that are willing to help locate the cahes.  This is a serious and great opportunity for any experienced and dedicated enthusiast.  If you are interested, but not quite willing to be part of the expedition, I'm also looking for a well-experienced enthusiast that can physically train me on how to use a metal detector; your assistance will be rewarded.  Last October, I purchased the Garrett GTI 2500 Pro detector with the Eagle Eye Coil, along with gas masks and hazmat body suits.  This is a very serious call to any interested parties.  I await your responses.

When you cross that border, you're at the mercy of the authorities in Mexico. They can put you in jail, take your detectors, and make your family pay a high ransom just to get you out of the country and back onto sweet American soil again. I say that's too high a risk to take and someone is being foolish to fall for it...PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you miss the part where he said his family came from that area? That means they are either citizens of Mexico or past residents at the very least. As such, the scary rumored law as you describe it won't apply. He's inviting you into a sort of "inner sanctum" type of treasure hunt with the relative guarantee of safe transport in and out.

There's nothing illegal about taking metal detectors into Mexico as long as you have the proper paperwork at hand when you cross the border and declare EVERYTHING you are bringing back. Don't let paranoia override good sense here, mate. It will be all right.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
