Well this is one guy and treasure I know very little about, but if you tell us what you need to know we can see what we can come up with.
I have read that Frank Fish an old time treasure hunter around Cal spent a lot of time looking for and finding some of old Joaquin Murietta treasure but Frank was killed back in 63 so may be hard to find any info he left behind.

With Joaquin Murietta, it will be nearly as difficult separating fact from legend as it is with Billy the Kid or Jesse James.   There is a whole lot written about him in the California regional history books.

You can start with the wiki page, but I'd move into the library and the stacks of OLD newspapers as soon as possible.

Personally speaking.....this treasure tale has been so beat up it isn't funny.....
When I am researching, tales like this one, and many others are just ignored by me....but this is my own personal thought, and am not discouraging anyone not to pursue a tale of this sort....

This is one where the real leads you get are going to be incidental pieces that actually fit better with some other treasure and just managed to somehow get "added" Murietta tale.   So don't discount all of them, just keep in mind that big name bandits tend to get tied to incidents they had absolutely nothing to do with, and if you focus on them you just might find yourself going down the wrong path.

Lucky Dog.

I am also in California and have done my research on Joaquin. If you have done any research in the field and can narrow down a location. I can provied the technology to assist in locating a cache. Or just compare noted if you prefer. If interested send a personal e-mail.

Look around the Mariposa library I understand he frequented a saloon and town of Aquafrea just out side of Mariposa .

Would like a little more info. than a saloon he used o hang out in. Don't recall any story of a cache in that area. But he was active all through central Californiaa. Aqua Frea is now just a barron hill side. Permission is hard to get. But it would be a good place to hunt. There is a cache of $50 gold slugs along Dead Mans Creek in the area. If it hasn't been found.

Lucky Dog,

Which of Joaquin Murietta's caches were you most interested in. Or have been doing your research on.
