I have heard that many times spots were marked by using items such as spoons over the burial spot or placed in tree forks or in rock creviases this is what spark my curiousity to this spot we were told the house was used as a depot for horses for the railroad and pony express in the 1800s and J D Cases of Cases tractors once owned the property and mined iron ore and fire clay on it as to where the mining was done nobody knows the original farm was 500 acres but now is only 100. We have used 3 different metal detectors over the years and all 3 hit on this same spot. But I have had many a good hits showing the possibility of gold only to dig up a big chunk of cast iron for some reason it shows the same as gold on the detectors. Thanks for the encouragement this may be a summer project

What could go wrong? Unless you mean a hunk of junk metal, a big hole in the floor, and you have to convince the wife that it was good because now you know and it won't be bothering you anymore.

Nothing like that would ever happen to me no... cause I'm not married... anymore.     Grin

Good luck JBELL! A place like that you probably can't help finding something interesting  Smiley

Hey Jbell:

I agree with Seldom, dig the spring first and see what you find.  The finds there may finance the new floor.

Like you I am a new guy here and I can see I am really going to like this forum.  I get excited about the kind of stuff you have described and your hunting ground there would keep me awake at night.

The potential is fantastic.

And that's why I have not slept in 40 years

don't rely on gold detector. there is no gold detector, only metal detector.
