You guys know me. I had to restrain myself about the vikings using crystals to find the hidden sun. See there is one point on top, and two points on the bottom, and you then line the one point up with.......................lol.

Yes thanks for not mentioning "back azmuth" that does need pictures 8*)

Just a spot and a heading, no waybill or landmarks.... or yellow houses 8*)

I should have not used myself as the person who also did the burying as yes I would have used something that would never change. Should have said “someone other than myself buried it”. Then I went looking for it years later with only a direction to go in from a specific point. You know how they all start out….

Any change of degrees and the further you traveled would cause you to be further off is what I was thinking which is what got my gears turning but didn’t know if they were just spinning. I was thinking I would need to know the year he buried it and the barring for magnetic north then, account for true north and magnetic north now and then do the math to be in the proper direction.

In a word, 'Yes'.....you were thinking right.  and if the calculation is off, every subsequent error is likely to be compounded.   BUT if you can figure out at least two consecutive way points, you should be able to calculate the rest even if you don't know the year he originally noted them.

Yes, kind of guessed that. I’m just an amateur at it so thanks all for your answers and humor. If I have anymore nav questions I know where to go.

Keep in mind that Mag North has been doing some Crazy Weird stuff the past 10 years or so.

Some folks think that North will be South here in the Next 10 years or so.

True, might be too many variables to try and account for over the years. It may be better to take my SW, S, SE lines out the distance on a map, use a line compass to get the radius at that distance, set the Garmin to help keep me online and walk it and see what happens?
