  No Bambo here but I substituted with Saguaro Cactus in AZ  when I was a kid.  We called them the Old Men of the Desert.  Here in New Mexico we have flat or brittle bush.  Not as long or as strong but works.   Ware there is a Way you can do it.  The Creator Gave you Every Thing you need Every Place on Earth if you just learn to use it.
