hi,, not sure about this being of celtic origin but any find gold or silver thats 300 yrs or older is suject to the treasure act and should be reported to your local finds liason officer ( flo )

and they will inform you more accurately about it ,, only downside is you may lose it but it is a voluntary scheme but they have been known to prosecute ,, nice find all the same ,, thorin

Thanks all for commenting, I am seeing my local flo about this ring but havent herd anything of yet.  It must take time.  It is very similar to a few finger rings from a grave site in the netherlands dateing to 400 bc.  The ring is decorated with Celt Crosses but when looked at closely they look like crude birds with big beeks, also other animals?. Sorry for the pic quality.
The silver ring is the one from the netherlands.

Really nice find. We don't get many chances to find anything that old on this side of the pond unless you count native american finds.

Again, nice ring.   tenring

About 4 feet deep, the reason I say that is the builders took about a meter of soil away leaving me the rest, about 4" down.  look out for that where ever you detect.  I have found a lot from this site from georgian to celt and have also found flint axe heads, scrapers and knifes, eyes only.
