There's never much to find there. They don't have pockets. On the sidelines, I have almsot always found at least 1 class ring. Usually more than 1. My record was 4 and so far I am 100% on returning them to their owners. Gladness.

I've hunted our high school football practice field. Found alot of change on the side lines. The interesting  thing about this field was it was where the old fairgrounds where in the 50's & 60's. In the middle of the field I've found several silver quarters & dimes where I think there must of been some sort of balloon pop or arcade game held. Than I thought maybe thats where the ticket booth may of been. I realize most fields where not old fairgrounds but hunting the side lines or under any bleachers have rewarded me plenty.

I was of course kidding.  As the field was where the competition was being held.
1200 high school students - 12 different HS band's competing for 3 trophies.

And it's a brand new 20 million dollar facility for APSU.  I'm sure if they saw anyone
with a detector anywhere near it. The APSU police would run you off.

but I have hunted some HS fields around the bleachers etc . Walking paths . Restroom areas etc .
found lots of change a few hot wheels etc. But never a class ring.

I never hunt the actual  play field.  That's just me.

In a very small rural town where I used to live I hunted the football field all the time.  I hunted the obvious places like the entry gate, concessions stand, bleachers and sidelines.  I also hunted the playing fields.  Targets were few and far between on the field but every time I hunted it I always found silver... every time!  This lasted until they decided to level the field by covering it with tons of new dirt!  I hunted it some after that but it quit paying off in silver.  I did find a few coins (newer) rings and silver jewelry, but the older silver was covered up... Cry

We can only hunt the old schools here.  All the New Schools are Like FEMA Camps.  Locked up and Guarded.    Never hunted to Playing fields.   Grass is hard to keep going in these parts and it Upsets them most well.  :Smiley

I hunted them in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Washington, Oregon and Connecticut. At every field, I found tons of items and very little trash. Good hunting. Under nearby trees, too. The old Groundhog never failed me.

Guys around here you can't dig on city property.  So all the city schools are off limits same with city parks.

A day the county schools and parks are already posting the same signs.

I still hunt at off peak hours when I get the chance.  But I leave things like I found them.
