Yes, If you ever meet him you'll see he has a heart of gold. John, we have'nt meet but I feel I know you as well as if we had. You my friend must be the Lion. The one who needed Courage and I see though this thread by reading it, you found it knowing some rough times you've had.  And than there's the Scarecrow.  The one that's job is to scare off the critters. You know, the one who needed the brain. And than there was the Wizard who granted all there wish's.  I'm here to tell ya all, This thread has brought many detectorist together! It may not always be talking detecting but the hobby of detecting brought us all here. Where we have become friends and all is welcome. Come to know one another more than detecting buddys. Able to send prayers for those of us that sure needed um in time of sorrow and heartbreak. I learned about your family's, grandkids etc... Most of us will never shake one another's hands  but its here we meet which can lead to a gathering of friends one day with detectors in hand possible.  Until than if ever, I'll continuing laughing at your jokes, sharing your pains and getting to know you all better by reading whatever is on your mind. Just a bit of what was on my mind traveling....Heres me, Halloween 2013...A Wizard, lol

Go Up Go Down

Heres  pic from  a few years ago. I did indeed write a play in my head while working at the bank. Ever year I'd do something for the bank at Halloween. I left a note on all there desks one nite telling them Otis has been seen in Crawford County running moonshine and if seen please report to the sheriffs office. Next nite I left a note telling them he's been seen in Girard Ks and I left handcuffs on all there desks telling them to lock him in the vault if caught.  Halloween day we  (my friend who really looked like Otis, me as Barnie Fife) went to the bank in costume and I reported to them that he has been caught and his punishment was to give all the moonshine to the Banks employees. We handed out 24 bottles of Boones's farm. I had bought the 64 galaxie 500 for 300 bucks just 2 weeks before Halloween. Had the idea of fixing it up like the Andy Griffith (Mayberry)  show car. Worked my tail off getting it ready, painting etc...The red lite on top was the most expensive piece I had to find and buy. Sold that car on Ebay to a collector in Texas for a profit. Guy came up and drove it home.  Funny thing was...I had called the sheriffs office making sure I was ok (legal) to drive the car around town with the red lite. Sheriff said sure just do not turn it on. He saw me with the car while parked and saw the bottles of wine in the front seat. One opened. Told me I did a good job fixing it up and also said after seeing the wine....I'll bet that must be some sort of evidence and he said I should keep it in the trunk! I so wanted to donate the car to the Sheriffs dept. but had to much invested to do so. Had a GREAT time with it though.  Fixed up an old Cadillac Hearse one year. Had the casket and all.  Can't find pics of it yet but will post when found.

SPeaking of 289's, 302's...I'm going to go look at a little Ford Ranger truck in the morning. Guys got it for sale for 750. Looks pretty good but has a flat bed on it. Thing is, is has a 289 in it. with 410 rear end. Be hard keeping rubber on it I'm sure. Sure don;t need it but thought I might be able to make a buck on it?  Needs paint and I like painting um...John I am not aware of a 302 cleveland? There was a 351 cleveland. 302 was just a 302 unless it was in the mustangs that Ford called the 302 Boss.

No Mate there is a 302 Cleveland, It uses the same block and Pistons as the 351 but just has a shorter stoke, they come with 1.78 or 1.83 exhaust valves and 2.02" inlets, and I think from memory the have 78cc chambers in the heads, if you put the 302 heads on a 351 it gives you about 11.2 to 11.5 compression ratio,

In Oz they built them from 1971 to 1984/5 and the last one made was fitted into A Ford XE Falcon .ESP.

If you put the heads on the 400m Block it give you about 10.5 to 1 to 10.8 to 1 which gives it a massive boost of power that was robbed from them in the US back in the early 70s when the smog motors came out,

I can still get to parts blocks heads ETC,

hope this helps

If that Truck is not Towing or carrying weight then Put 3.23s in it or at the most 3.55s in the back end.
